In the videos page, there is a photo with Michel Camilo and a mp3 link with the text "playing with Michel Camilo".
Listening to that audio clip, I think it?s a playalong (cd track (michel camilo) + drums recorded at home).
If it isn?t that way, it REALLY seems to be that way.If he has played with Michel camilo CONGRATULATIONS, then he should put it in his bio. If not, maybe he has used the general term "playing with" instead of another more precise.
There are some Latin independence exercises offered by this young (23) mexican drummer.

not bad- needs to work on his 2 & 4 though from the sound of it...
He is indeed playing along a Camilo CD track. It's a piano/conga version of Blue Bossa from Michel's self titled album with Mongo on congas. Adding drums over it doesn't sound good IMO, simply because it's a duet improv; time wobbles a bit and Michel's left hand tumbao (although impressive for a pianist) is not 100% precise and sometimes rushes. Original version is excellent by itself, but if you overdub, there's no way you can be tight with it.
The guy has some real nice latin independence, but the stuff he plays over his left foot clave/right foot tumbao is far form what El Negro is capable of doing. But he's still young and might get there.
His bio says he studied with fellow HOD member Pedro G. So maybe Pedro could comment on his "prot?g?"...

Seriusly, I have had more students that I can remember so I guess he didn't stay with me to much time. I haven't seen him in any important gig or something so maybe he is still developing his abilities and in some time he may surprise us really playing with Camilo.

I did notice that, although his clave grooves really grooved, when he ventured into a basic funk groove, he lost it a bit. Bottom line, the latin groove he plays is far more demanding and takes much more time and discipline than the funk groove he tried to play. There's only so many hours in the day. Hello this is jose luis campos and i found some coments of me here is an honor that people around the world visited my page and see videos and coment that is my purpose and i want to clarify the doubts or question 1rst the song with michel camilo is a song that i took of his Albun and i did recording at studio but somebody tell me i?m not playing with michel camilo that notes are playing with him in a cd but for him.i respect much michel and some day i?ll be playing with him i promise. then this is for pedro Galindo master you dont remember me because i meet you in a drum fest in Mexico with Zoro,Derico watson etc etc, there you gave me exercises like paradidles and other thinks and you gave me your phone number but you were very busy and we was talking some times for phone and you gave me exersices and other thinks, never can be togueter for a class but i took that exersices like a class and i talk of you because your are very important for me i?m that guy with acent north maybe you can remember me acent north of Sinaloa.

Hi Jose Luis... I think I remember you, I?m glad that those exercises help you in any way!.
You are on your way to become an excelent drummer, keep practicing and you?ll have the level to play with Michel Camilo, or anybody.
I remember Antonio S. before he left Mexico, he wasn?t playing 10% of the latin stuff you?re playing now, so with discipline, dedication and good ears you could find your way to the big leages.
